Renters insurance is similar to other forms of homeowners insurance, but it applies to rented property. It can cover natural disasters, such as fire and flooding, and also legal issues, such as if there is an accident or injury in your home.

Rental insurance can be obtained through most insurance companies. Landlords will sometimes have a rental insurance policy already established, but be sure to read the policy very carefully, as it sometimes will not cover as much as a policy from an insurance company.
